It is known that strengthening the investment sector is of great benefit to our country’s economic growth. The fact that our country is currently becoming a preferred foreign direct investment destination shows this. Accordingly, it is clear that more than half of the country’s total income comes from the agro-processing sector, and more than 80% of export earnings and 85% of employment opportunities are covered by this sector. The government encourages this sector because investors who can contribute to the political, economic and social development of our country and improve the living standards of the people are investing in it under the guidance of a favorable investment policy of the government. The role of investors is no less important than the government in helping the unemployed, whose number is increasing day by day, to find work and transform themselves.

In the civilized world, most workers work and earn better wages when they are employed by private investors and companies. Konta, one of the six zones in the Southwestern Ethiopian Region, has many resources that make it an attractive investment destination. The total land area allocated for investment is 10,139 hectares. Of this, 20 investors have been allocated more than 6,558.7 hectares of land and are developing them. In addition to creating employment opportunities for the local population, they are also implementing technology transfer.

Among the investors engaged in the investment sector in the zone, for example, Ato Girma Eshete, an investor in the Konta Koisha Woreda, Oshka Dencha Kebele, under the Laste Mountain, is currently cultivating coffee and fruits on 150 hectares of land out of the 400 hectares he acquired for investment purposes in Oshka Dencha Kebele in the zone in 2011. He is currently working hard to create permanent and temporary employment opportunities for more than 100 workers and reap the benefits of the sector. In addition, Alemayehu City has acquired 2000 hectares of land in Tolka Kebele in the total agricultural sector and is currently recording better results by cultivating crops on 300 hectares of land. The zone is waiting with its doors open to those who want to invest in agriculture, manufacturing, hotel and tourism, mining development, and other sectors and to respond quickly to those who have resources that meet the requirements and want to be effective in the sector.
